Claude Desktop

Use this page to add your PolicyArc environment to Claude Desktop.

Not verified

We have not run Claude Desktop against the gateway yet. The config below is the one the Admin Portal gives you. We ran the mcp-remote bridge it starts on its own, at version 0.14.3 on 2026-10-12. The bridge signed in, listed the tools and made one tool call that shows under Access Activity. The client matrix records the result.

Config

Copy your gateway URL from the Admin Portal first. Copy your gateway URL shows where it is. Then add this to claude_desktop_config.json, with your URL in place of https://your-environment.example/gateway/mcp.

{
"mcpServers": {
"policyarc": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://your-environment.example/gateway/mcp"]
}
}
}

The Admin Portal names the file's folder. It is ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/ on macOS and %APPDATA%\Claude\ on Windows.

Steps

  1. Open claude_desktop_config.json. In a run with an earlier, unrecorded version, Claude Desktop's settings showed a Local MCP servers section with an Edit Config button that opened this file.
  2. Add the policyarc entry and save the file.
  3. Quit Claude Desktop and start it again. The npx command needs Node.js on your machine.
  4. The bridge opens your browser at the sign-in page of the identity provider your environment uses. Sign in.
