Cursor

Use this page to add your PolicyArc environment to Cursor.

Not verified

We have not run Cursor against the gateway yet. The config below is the one the Admin Portal gives you. The client matrix records each run.

Config

Copy your gateway URL from the Admin Portal first. Copy your gateway URL shows where it is. Then add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or to .cursor/mcp.json in one project, with your URL in place of https://your-environment.example/gateway/mcp.

{
"mcpServers": {
"policyarc": {
"url": "https://your-environment.example/gateway/mcp"
}
}
}

Steps

These steps come from screenshots of an earlier run whose Cursor version was not recorded.

  1. Open Cursor's settings and select Tools & MCPs. With no servers installed, the page shows No MCP Tools.
  2. Add the policyarc entry from Config to mcp.json and save the file.
  3. Back in Tools & MCPs, policyarc shows Needs authentication and a Connect button. Select Connect.
  4. Sign in to the identity provider your environment uses in the browser that opens.

If something goes wrong

The gateway names each tool after its resource, two underscores and the tool, such as weather-openmeteo__current_weather from the First environment track. The Admin Portal warns that Cursor skips tools whose names do not match ^[a-zA-Z0-9_]+$, or whose server and tool name together reach 60 characters. A resource whose name has a hyphen can therefore lose its tools in Cursor, and weather-openmeteo has one. We have not checked this against a current Cursor build.
